Colloquium Announcement: Scott Hussey and Visual Anthropology

The Florida Anthropological Student Associations hosts weekly colloquia to showcase our graduate students’ and faculty’s research interests, to give them valuable opportunities to practice or refine their presentation techniques, and to help connect UF anthropologists.

Our first colloquium will be Friday, September 19 at 4pm in Turlington 1208:

Using Your Camera for Anthropology

  • This presentation will cover photographic techniques for anthropology.
  • the basics of photography, including the exposure triangle of ISO, aperture, and shutter speed
  • common flaws of and solutions for artifact photography
  • the use of the camera in more advanced three-dimensional applications, like photogrammetry and virtual tours
  • portraiture, lighting, and how the camera’s orientation to a human subject can influence a viewer’s perception of the subject
