University of Florida Department of Anthropology, Lecturer in Cultural Anthropology


The Department of Anthropology at the University of Florida, College of Liberal Arts and Science,
invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, renewable, non-tenure accruing position at the
rank of Lecturer, beginning August 16, 2019, in Cultural Anthropology. Applicants must have a
Ph.D. in Anthropology at the time of appointment. The salary is competitive and commensurate
with qualifications and experience and includes a full benefits package.


The teaching assignment is 3 courses per semester, including
Introduction to Cultural Anthropology
(ANT 2410) and two additional undergraduate courses in the candidate’s field of expertise. We
are particularly interested in candidates who can also teach
Language and Culture (ANT 3620).
Experience in online course development and teaching is desirable.


Lecturers are highly valued by the department and the university. Lecturers have professional
development opportunities, including a well-defined promotion structure, a professional

the primary duties for this position are instructional, continued research and involvement in
service at the department, college, and university levels is also expected.
The Department of Anthropology at the University of Florida has 30 faculty, 125 graduates
students and 325 undergraduate majors. We are an interdisciplinary unit within a large research
