Hi All,

Some news and notes from around the department:

Job Candidate Lectures Next Week

Primatology Search

Join us on Monday, January 14, at 3 pm, for a lecture by Dr. Dena Clink: “Eavesdropping on Southeast Asian primates – What bioacoustics can teach us about primate evolution, ecology and conservation.”  The lecture will be in Room E252, Computer Science & Engineering Building.

Archaeology Search

Join us Thursday, Jan 17, at 3 pm. Dr. Anna Guengerich will present her research on built environments and agrohydraulic systems in the Eastern Andes, with a focus on how societies used cloud forest landscapes to mediate power relations prior to and following Inka conquest.  The lecture will be in L136, Marston Science Library.

I will remind everyone that these searches impact the entire department.  Faculty and students, regardless of subfield identity or affiliation, are expected to attend.

2019 Exemplary Online Awards

The Office of Faculty Development and Teaching Excellence is pleased to announce the 2019 Exemplary Online Awards call for nominations. These awards replace the Online Education Excellence Awards and recognize exemplary and innovative teaching and course production in online courses.

The award peer review process and rubric are consistent with the state-wide Florida Online Course Review. Instructors who submit a course for exemplary review are also eligible to receive a Quality or High Quality course designation.

To be eligible, courses must have 80% or more of the content and activities available to students online. Courses taught during the 2018 calendar year are eligible for nomination.

To nominate a course, the instructor must complete the Exemplary Online Award Nomination Form and provide supporting material.  The nomination deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 18, 2019.

Awards will be presented at the Interface 2019 Conference on April 23, 2019 to be held at Emerson Alumni Hall.  Award details, past winners and nomination form can be found at teach.ufl.edu.

For questions about the nomination form or the awards, contact Alexandra Bitton-Bailey .
