Michael Heckenberger, Professor of Anthropology, specializing in archaeology and Indigenous history of the Brazilian Amazon, and non-Western complex societies and marginalized urban populations in Latin America. Indigenous archaeology and heritage studies, Global South, especially Brazilian Amazon, critical spatial studies in Brazilian urban anthropology, collaborative, community-based and contextual analysis. Dr. Heckenberger is also a Research Associate, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Research Affiliate Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, Brazil, and external affiliate of the Associação Indígena Kuikuro do Alto Xingu, Brazil.
