ANT 3555 The Primates

Dr. Kim Valenta

Monkeys! Apes! Lemurs! If you’ve ever spent any time thinking about your closest living relatives, or wishing that you did, consider taking this introductory course. By the end of this course, you’ll have a working knowledge of the world’s living primates, and be able to answer questions like “where did mammals come from?” and “why do we live in groups?” The course will broadly cover all of the current topics being addressed by primatologists, including social behavior, ecology, cognition, and the senses. This course will also prepare students well for all subsequent primatology courses, including Primate Behavior, Primate Ecology, and Primate Conservation.
