This course prepares graduate students for a research career in Anthropology. Specifically, students will learn how to develop, fund, present and publish their independent research. Students will develop their research projects over the course of the semester, from abstract to proposal to grant review to elevator pitch. They will also develop their CVs, teaching portfolios, and presentation skills. Additional topics including research ethics, conference presentations, manuscript preparation, advising and mentorship, university workplace issues, and non-academic career paths will also be discussed, often by guest lecturers.
