Armadillo Roast

March 19, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Its the 50th Anniversary of the Charles H. Fairbanks Armadillo RoastThe Roast (for all you newcomers who missed out because of Covid) is an annual social event for the Department of Anthropology. It originated from a field school party at Fort Center in 1966. The roast became an official annual function for the department in 1972. It is also a fund-raising event for the Charles H. Fairbanks Scholarship, which supports archaeology graduate student dissertation preparation.
A $10 entrance donation is recommended. Your roast hosts will provide meat/veggie hamburgers and hotdogs. Please bring a side or dessert and your own cup for drinks!  The afternoon includes a horseshoes tournament, the ArchaeOlympics (be careful where you park your car!), a pie contest (winners receive the coveted Golden Trowel), the mystery meat contest, and more!

Additionally, FASA needs your help! If you would like to submit a design for this year’s shirt, send your submission to fasa@anthro.ufl.edu by March 2nd.  Have photos of prior roasts? Submit old photos of students/faculty at UF or in the field from over the years to fasa@anthro.ufl.edu.
