FASA would like to invite you to this week’s colloquium.
Genetic and Epigenetic Studies on the Embodiment of Stress and Its Impact on Health
Stress affects our health and may even have transgenerational effects. Certain individuals are more susceptible to the effects of stress, while others are more resilient. The underlying molecular mechanisms of adaptive and maladaptive responses to our environment are unknown. Presumably, it involves interactions between our genetic and cultural heritage. The present talk will discuss studies that use a biocultural approach to understand how the effects of stress may interact with genetic and epigenetic variation in participants, which in turn influences their health and disease risk.
