Undergraduate Florida Anthropological Student Association (uFASA)uFASA logo

The Undergraduate Florida Anthropology Student Association (uFASA) is an all-inclusive club for students with an interest in anthropology, regardless of major, GPA, or class standing. One of our main goals is to expose students to all anthropology has to offer, including career options both within and outside academia. Each February, uFASA and Lambda Alpha host a celebration for World Anthropology Day featuring anthropologists from around the Gainesville and UF community. If you have any questions about joining or getting involved with Anthropology, please contact the executive board.

Lambda Alpha

Lambda Alpha is open to all students with a 2.5 GPA overall and 3.0 GPA in at least 12 credits of Anthropology coursework. The purpose of this honors society is to encourage and stimulate scholarship and research in anthropology by recognizing and honoring superior achievement in the discipline. Within this organization, there are leadership opportunities in the Delta Chapter at the University of Florida. Society members receive the Lambda Alpha newsletter, an opportunity to apply for Lambda Alpha scholarships and other benefits. Induction of new members takes place in both fall and spring.

Emic

Emic is a magazine run out of UF’s Anthropology Department and staffed by a team of students across a broad selection of majors. Emic is a mixed-media ‘zine focused on bolstering the original works of undergraduates through a digital platform. The magazine brings art, writing, and editorials together to explore and communicate themes of abstract human experiences. If you are interested in participating as part of the Emic design or editorial team, please reach out through our socials, our email, or to Dr. Stephanie Bogart.

Women in Anthropology

Women in Anthropology is a formal support, resource, and networking group which fosters communication and dialogue on the experiences, needs, and concerns of women and non-binary graduate students and allies affiliated with the University of Florida Department of Anthropology. Our work centers on creating safe and inclusive spaces, fostering involvement in department activities, facilitating collaboration and networking, providing holistic support, existing as a broader forum for discussion and action, and promoting dialogue and improvement on the quality-of-work and quality-of-life issues for women and non-binary people in Anthropology. Anyone affiliated with our department and interested in this work is welcome to attend meetings or get involved by joining our Facebook group (UF Women in Anthropology) or contacting any of our members!
