Undergraduate student poster prize: $250
Poster should be 36 x 48 in landscape format.
Also accepting Films and Photoethnographies.
Selected photos will appear on the department’s website, selected films will be featured on our YouTube channel, and selected posters will hang in Turlington Hall.
Submissions are due to Chris LeClere by Wednesday, April 11th, 2018.

The UF Organization for Graduate Student Advancement and Professional Development (OGAP), the UF Graduate School and the UF Office of Research are pleased to host the Graduate Student Research Day on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018 in the Grand Ballroom of the Reitz Union! As the second day of Graduate Student.

Appreciation Week festivities, this event is designed to showcase the breadth of research across the UF campus centered around a poster presentation competition and featuring keynote speakers.
The theme for the GSRD 2018 is ‘EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION’. Attendees will be able to learn from top scholars about the features and advantages of several types of effective communication as well as network with faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and other graduate students from various disciplines from the University of Florida. The keynote speakers for the event are:
- Dr. Thomasenia Adams, Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development, UF College of Education
- John Kaplan, Professor, UF College of Journalism and Communications

The deadline to submit your abstract is March 13th, 2018 (midnight)!
We encourage graduate students to take advantage of this opportunity to practice your presentation skills and compete with your peers for top poster awards. Poster winners will also represent the University of Florida at the Florida Statewide Research Symposium! Therefore, all graduate students are encouraged to submit an abstract for a poster presentation for a chance to win.
Judges are needed as well for Graduate Student Research Day! If you are a faculty member or a postdoctoral researcher and would like to be a judge for the poster sessions, please register here:

Study Abroad Program Opportunity for Undergraduate/Graduate
The Samuel Proctor Oral History Program will be hosting an information session to provide additional information about its Summer B 2018 UF in Trinidad & Tobago study abroad opportunity this Wednesday, February 28th in 240 Pugh Hall from 3 to 4 pm. Details about excursions, course content, the application process, program fee, and more will be discussed. Light refreshments will be provided.
UF in Trinidad and Tobago is a new and unique study abroad opportunity designed to immerse students in the history and cultures of Trinidad and the broader Caribbean through oral history fieldwork and digital humanities production. Major themes of the course are religion, Trinidadian literature, anti-slavery and anti-colonial movements, oral history, historical memory, and public history. The program director is Dr. Paul Ortiz and students will earn six credit hours of 4000-level history credits through the program.
The final deadline for the program application is March 15.
