World Anthropology Day February 21st

Two items here:

From Hannah Toombs, FASA president: World Anthropology Day is just around the corner (Thursday, February 21st) and we want to showcase some of the research our faculty and students conduct across the department! We are planning to do a “social media blast” on the UF Anthropology Department and uFASA Instagram accounts, and across our other social media platforms, along with the official World Anthropology Day hashtag. If you are interested in having a post featured, please submit:

*A photo of you doing lab research, fieldwork, presenting at a conference, or any images related to your research at the Florida Museum, CAPHIL, the SE Arch Lab, the Area Studies Centers, and beyond, with a brief description of your research or what you are doing in the photo.

AND/OR

*A 1 minute video of you describing or discussing your research, showcasing your lab space, or sharing a method, skill, or theory you use in your anthropology research!

Feel free to have fun with this and repost the images/videos on your own social media accounts when we share them on World Anthropology Day! Email images and videos to: toombshannah@ufl.edu ”

Fieldwork Fails:  As the final event for World Anthropology Day, Thursday, February 21st, we are hoping to do a “Fieldwork Fails” night at 5:00 p.m., in which students and faculty in the department share a short (2 minutes!) presentation about a fieldwork story/fail. Feel free to be creative and include photos, videos, etc.! We would love to have volunteers for this from across all 4 subfields! If you are interested in participating, RSVP to Rachel Lotze (rlotze@ufl.edu)
